Our Story Serving the Aviation Community Since 1978
Palm Beach Avionics was founded in 1978 by Jim Cook at Palm Beach International Airport. That same year, Stacey Jordan joined the company, helping expand operations as the aviation industry evolved. The business later relocated to Boca Raton Airport in 1986 and then to North Palm Beach County General Aviation Airport (F45) in 1996, where it continues to serve the aviation community today.
In 2012, Stacey Jordan became president and guided the company through a period of continued growth and modernization. In 2021, Robert Spahr, a retired commercial airline captain and former U.S. Navy aviator, assumed the role of president, bringing extensive operational, engineering, and avionics experience to the organization.
Palm Beach Avionics holds FAA ratings for Radio Class I, II & III, along with Limited Instrument, Autopilot, and Airframe certifications. Our technicians participate in ongoing factory and industry training to stay current with emerging avionics technologies. We are also proud to have been a member of the Aircraft Electronics Association (AEA) for more than 30 years.

Meet Our President
Robert Spahr, President of Palm Beach Avionics
Robert Spahr began his aviation career as a U.S. Navy P-3 pilot before completing a 32-year career with American Airlines, retiring as a Boeing 777 Captain with approximately 15,000 flight hours.
In addition to his airline experience, he spent eight years with Northrop Corporation as a Product Application Engineer and Product Manager, where he worked on the engineering and marketing of advanced avionics systems for major aerospace contractors and government agencies, including Boeing, Hughes, Martin, Ford, RCA, McDonnell Douglas, the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Air Force, and NASA.
His combined background in military aviation, commercial flight operations, and avionics engineering provides Palm Beach Avionics with exceptional leadership and technical insight.

American Airlines (1984 – 2011; 1979 – 1981)
- Captain 777, Captain 757/767, Captain A300, Captain 727, Co-Pilot 727, Co-Pilot MD 80, Flight Engineer 727;
- Approximately 15,000 flying hours and ATP ratings L188, CE500, 727, A300, 757, 767, 777;
- Extensive domestic and international experience, including Caribbean, Latin America, South America, and Europe.
Northrop, Precision Products Division (1981 – 1988)
- Sales Consultant, Product Development Manager, Application Engineer;
- Responsible for sales and marketing of Inertial Navigation Systems to prime contractors, U. S. Military, and NASA;
- Customers included TRW, Rockwell, RCA, LTV, Texas Instruments, Lockheed, Ford, Boeing, USAF, USN, and NASA;
- Product line consisted of highly integrated systems of electronic and electro-magnetic devices, with focus on tactical weapon and GPS inertial guidance and two and three axis attitude reference for Space Launch Vehicles and Satellites;
- Increased sales from $3 million to $6 million;
- Achieved the best profit margins within the division;
- Marketed Micro Optic Gyro and Ring Laser Gyro to government agencies;
- Program involvement includes Space Shuttle, Titan, Goes Satellites, GPS Satellites, AMRAAM Missiles, Harpoon, Phoenix, and Cruise Missiles.
Commissioned Officer, U. S. Navy & Naval Reserve (1972 – 1985)
- Naval Aviator, NATOPS Instructor Pilot, Maintenance Test Pilot, Aircraft Commander, Mission Commander;
- Missions included Anti-Submarine Warfare, Ocean Surveillance, and Special Intelligence.
